Welcome to Singapore
Located south of Malaysia, Singapore is one of the most popular travel destinations in Asia. It is a melting pot of different cultures – you can witness incredible interactions of Malay, Eurasians, Chinese, Indian, and European communities.
Singapore is one of most progressive countries worldwide, while still staying true to its diverse cultural heritage. It is undoubtedly one of the cleanest, most modern, and safest places to travel to. There is something to explore for everyone: May it be for the culture explorer, the nature lover, the restless shopaholic or for the foodie in you.
Singapore is having large initiatives to go cashless. This is why card payments are generally excepted everywhere (except for hawker stalls).
Situated near the equator, Singapore has a tropical climate with high humidity, rainfall and uniform hot temperatures throughout the whole year. The coldest month is February with 28°C, the hottest is May with 36°C.
To use the public transportation, download the app “Citymapper”, which will provide you with directions. The MRT (underground transport) and busses are very clean and safe to use.
The official language is English. But don’t be surprised if you can’t understand every word: Singaporean’s are very proud of their informal slang called “Singlish”, a mix of Chinese, Malay, and English.
